From September 16 to October 31, 2019, the exhibition "Fashion design" is open in the library’s glass gallery of TalTech.
The garment- and textile industries are rapidly developing global sectors that use modern technological solutions, but at the same time, they are among the most polluting industries in the world. Therefore, fashion design should address the issues of making clothes that are less harmful for the environment and leaving the smallest possible ecological footprint. It is important to use natural skin-friendly fabrics.
The exhibition presents publications on fashion design and its related fields. The displayed books introduce the history of fashion, the greatest fashion designers, garment construction and the implementation of new technologies (CAD/CAM), as well as the sustainable development of the sewing- and clothing industry, textile recycling, eco-consciousness, and new textile materials. List of books.
The Laboratory of Polymers and Textile Technology assisted with displaying the theses by the students of the field of textile technology that study the use of e-textile in creating intelligent clothing and the possibilities of mechanical and chemical recycling of textile waste.
The exhibition was compiled by Maie Pihlakas from the Library (620 3589) and Tiia Plamus and Kersti Merimaa from the Laboratory of Polymers and Textile Technology.
Exhibition designed by Tiia Eikholm.
